Governor Dedicates Warm Valley Lodge : Ribbon-Cutting with Carol Petra

With a smile and flourish of his scissors, and with more than 125 visitors, board members, and dignitaries adding their applause, Governor Matt Mead cut the bright red ribbon dedicating the newly-completed Warm Valley Lodge, Wyoming’s newest and most modern assisted living facility.

“Wyoming has a long tradition of helping each other,” Gov. Mead noted,

and Warm Valley Lodge certainly carries on that tradition. Last year, in 2012, the Wyoming census showed that 22% of our population is over 60 years of age, and 10 percent are over age 70. In just a few years, this State will have one of the oldest populations in the country, and assisted living facilities like this will only gain in importance.”

The Governor and his wife First Lady Carol Mead, flew into Dubois specifically for the dedication ceremony before continuing on to Cody and later to Jackson for the July 4 holiday. He was met at the Lodge entrance by longtime friend Carol Petera of Dubois, who has been instrumental in seeing the project through to its completion.

“I have known the Governor since he was five years old,” Ms. Petera told the crowd with a smile, “and his support of Warm Valley Lodge has been invaluable in keeping our idea alive. If, in his old age, he and Mrs. Mead decide they want to become residents here, I will guarantee them a room.”

The Governor and Mrs. Mead were met at the Dubois airport by Dick Hodge, President of the Warm Valley Lodge board of directors, and his wife Kathy, and Ms. Twila Blakeman, Mayor of Dubois. The Mayor has also been a strong supporter of the Lodge.

Warm Valley Lodge will undergo a final state inspection during the week of July 8, and the staff will begin moving furniture and equipment into the building as soon as possible after passing that inspection. Residents will start moving in a few days later.

The official grand opening for Wyoming’s newest Assisted Living Facility has been scheduled for Sept. 14.
